Johnnie's Mobile Kitchen

Melts on homemade sourdough, shrimp tacos, and a mango-habanero brat — order it skeptical.

The short version

A teal trailer with a sunrise on it, parked at the lake

Some food trucks do burgers. Johnnie's does a turkey-bacon-apple-brie melt on house sourdough, a mango-habanero bratwurst, a bison burrito, and a clam chowder bread bowl — out of a teal trailer painted with a sunrise, parked at a campground on a Colorado mountain lake. It only shows up when the weather's good.

Experienced cooks and a bright, from-scratch menu — sourdough baked in-house, sauces made to order.

Right now the truck is popping up around the valley — T&H Corner Store, Witches Night Out, community events — so follow their Facebook and chase it. In summer it parks at 5 Branches Camper Park on the east shore, where you order at the window and eat looking at the lake.

Watch the chalkboard, too — the specials rotate. Lately: a Fig Melt with pears + fig sauce on ciabatta, and a Jalapeño Popper melt.

Sips & extras

House sodas, named for the fun of it

House sodas — $5, and yes the names are half the fun: Happy Camper, Campfire Sip, Dirty Dr. Pepper, Mango Rush, Lemon Chill, Cherry Splash, Coconut Crush, and Beary Chill. Plus iced coffee and Miss Vickie's kettle chips.

The board changes with the day and season — that's half the fun.

Good neighbors

Lunch that helps wolves 🐺

Johnnie's runs a $5 hot dog, chips & water lunch where proceeds go to Wolfwood Refuge, the wolf and wolf-dog sanctuary up the road in Ignacio. “The wolfies are coming back to 5 Branches” is how they announce it — and the valley shows up. They run it a few times a season: $5 gets the classic lunch, or order off the full menu and the wolves still win. Watch their Facebook for the next date.

For your event

They cater. Basically anything.

Weddings, meetings, birthdays, reunions, luncheons — if they can handle it, they'll cook it, with a custom menu built around your event. The same outside-the-box kitchen (elk sloppy joes at your wedding? correct decision), brought to you.
